The local area

The park is set around 800 metres from the pretty town of Chamberet, where you can find facilities including supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars. Take a relaxing stroll though Treignac (7mls), which is regularly voted as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The fierce river Vezere runs through the town and is perfect for watching expert canoe and kayak descents. The fascinating prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies (73mls) have evidence of 200 prehistoric animals, while families will enjoy a visit to La Forêt des Singes (Monkey Forest in Rocamadour) to feed popcorn to the various breeds of monkey which roam freely. A one hour drive south brings you to the magnificent Cascases de Gimel, three spectacular waterfalls, which cascade over a drop of 140m into the abyss below.
