This is a large and lively site, that is the ideal location for an active family holiday, beautifully set beside a lake of shimmering water with a backdrop of steep hills.

There is a superb pool complex, with outdoor and indoor pools, waterslides (6yrs+ only), waterfalls, a sauna, rapids and a jacuzzi. There is also an excellent range of sporting facilities, complemented by a first-rate animation programme in high season. Lakeside, you will find all manner of watersports – hire a pedalo or canoe, or enjoy a cooling swim, before soaking up the sun on the shore. Keen fishermen can indulge in a spot of lake fishing from the banks of the adjacent lake. Domaine de Chalain Domaine de Chalain is situated on the southern banks of Lac de Chalain, a two-mile drive from the village of Doucier, with its small selection of bars and restaurants. Fifteen miles away is the busy town of Lons-le-Saunier, once a Roman Salt town, where you will find a good range of amenities. Domaine de Chalain Take the trail through the woods from Doucier to see the Cascades du Hérisson, a spectacular series of waterfalls which drop nearly 2,000 feet in less than two miles. The small town of Baume-les-Messieurs (14mls) sits in a hollow where three valleys join - visit the fascinating 6th century abbey and nearby caves. The waterpark is large with toboggans, waterchutes and a plunge pool and there is a separate covered (heated) pool. Wooded pathways around the lake are ideal for country walks, while bikes are available for hire if you want to explore further afield. You can hire pedaloes on the lake or try your hand at the mini-golf course. In the evening you can relax with a drink on the spacious bar terrace. During high season the site organise family entertainment including karaoke, discos and live music. Camping Parc de Fierbois Set in a prime position for exploring the Loire region, Parc de Fierbois is one mile from the village of St Catherine-de-Fierbois, dedicated to the memory of Joan of Arc. Camping Parc de Fierbois Vouvray (24mls) is an attractive small town, home of the famous wine, with plenty of opportunities to buy and taste. Villandry (25mls) is the last of the Renaissance châteaux, best known for its superb gardens. The well preserved, fortified medieval town of Loches (25mls) is picturesquely situated on the River Indre. The château and its dungeons are well worth a visit and there are spectacular views from the ramparts. The Grottes Petrifiantes de Savonnieres (25mls) are located at the base of a frozen waterfall. Objects are left at the bottom of the slow drips to become frozen in lime. A Michelin awarded ‘three red tent’ site, it enjoys a lovely position close to the river Loire and the stunning Château de Chambord.

Our grassy emplacements are shaded by mature trees, with plenty of space for children to run around. Families with young children will particularly enjoy this peaceful setting. The pool complex will be popular with children of all ages - it includes a covered pool, a lagoon pool, lazy river and waterslides. Château des Marais The little town of Muides-sur-Loire is a five minute walk from site while the cathedral town of Blois is a few miles drive. The site is ideally placed for canoe trips down the Loire and gives access to marked cycle paths along the river and around small lakes. The town and château of Chambord are six miles away. Château des Marais Chambord Château (6mls) is one of the most beautiful in the region. The grounds make a popular picnic spot and it was here that the concept of son et lumière was invented - performances are nightly from June until September. Chenonceau Château (42mls) stretches across the River Cher, and is well worth a visit to see its formal gardens and the Grande Gallerie, part of the stunning bridge that spans the river.
