Additional information

Please take the following into account when you are booking car hire:

  • The car hire must be booked in the driver’s name.
  • It is a legal requirement when driving on the continent for all children up to the age of 12 and/or under 135cms to use a child seat. Please request the appropriate baby/booster seat at the time of booking.
  • The lead driver will be asked to leave a credit card deposit when you collect your vehicle (available credit to cover should be available). Cash deposits are not acceptable.
  • At some airports you may pay Additional Excess to Limit in Case of Accident costs when you collect your vehicle,
  • All valid UK driving licences should be accepted, but older (all green) licences and Northern Ireland licences issued prior to 1 January 1991 do not conform to the EC model. To update to a photo card licence, apply to DVLA Swansea/DVLNI Coleraine; application forms are available from most post offices. Alternatively, older licences may be accompanied by an IDP.
  • If you have endorsements on your licence this may affect your ability to hire a vehicle. You will need to provide your paper licence.
  • Minimum age restrictions apply for hiring a car. In most countries you must be over 21 years old and have held a driving licence for a minimum of one year. Different restrictions may apply for luxury cars and people carriers.
