Things to do in Germany

Trier – Whilst on a camping holiday in Germany, be sure to pay a visit to the country’s oldest town. Trier boasts some fine Roman remains, including the Porta Nigra, a fortified gate built in the 2nd Century. Visit the huge cathedral, which is one of the oldest in Germany.

Europa Park – a huge leisure and adventure park, situated in the grounds of a real Black Forest castle. There are dare-devil rollercoasters, as well as a superb range of shows that will appeal to all age ranges – the perfect place to visit with the family while camping in Germany.

Freiburg – the capital of the Black Forest is an attractive city dominated by a beautiful Gothic cathedral. If you have a good head for heights, climb to the top of the spire for a fabulous view of the city and surrounding hills.

Baden-Baden – a fashionable spa-resort, that is also famous for its Casino, the oldest in Germany, designed in the style of a French palace – guided tours are available. Enjoy fine views of the town from the terrace of the Neues Scholß, a 14th century fortress.

Phantasialand – a huge amusement park which makes a great day out while on a camping holiday in Germany. There are themed areas, rides and shows, including the Galaxy Flight Simulator, wild-water rides, the Grand Canyon roller coaster and a spectacular laser show.

Wolfach – a lovely old town offering picturesquely painted houses. The village is a traditional glass-blowing centre, and the Dorotheenhütte is the only remaining Black Forest factory where glass is blown by hand.
