- Arrival Time - please plan your journey so as to
arrive on site between 4pm and 8pm when
your courier will be there to welcome you and
show you to your accommodation. If you arrive earlier, you are free to use all the campsite facilities but you will not be able to use your accommodation. Please ensure that you are on site by 10pm at the latest. Arrivals on site after this time will not be accepted, and the responsibility to find alternative accommodation will lie with you. There is no vehicle access on site after campsite gates are locked. You must vacate your accommodation by 10am on the morning of departure.
- Silence rule – some sites do have ‘a silence
after 10.30pm rule’ however some do not. We ask
all our customers to observe all site rules
including those related to silence. The enforcement
of the silence rules varies from site to site.
In high season the noise on site is more
noticeable: many people eat much later, the sites
are busier and there may be on-site
entertainment late into the evening.
- Heated pools – some sites have heated pools.
Please note these are usually solar heated, which
raises the temperature just a few degrees.
- Swimwear – Local government campsite
regulations usually require everyone to wear
proper swimwear in campsite pools and shorts of
any description are prohibited. Some sites require
the use of swimming caps.
- Deposits on site – some sites require you to
leave a refundable deposit at the campsite
reception for a barrier card and/or bands to
access the swimming pool.
- Safety – we ask you to take all reasonable
precautions to safeguard yourself/your party. In
particular we ask you to familiarise yourself with
the fire precautions, the cooking arrangements
and pool areas. Please note that campsite pools
are not required to have lifeguards so a
responsible adult should oversee children at all
times whilst in/around the pool areas.
- Emplacement size – the size of emplacement
varies from site to site. Typically sites near the
beach and close to major towns/cities have
smaller emplacements, while those inland have
larger ones. Those in Italy and Spain are generally
smaller – and you normally park your car during
the high season on the road/in a parking area.
- Adjacent accommodation/special requests
– if you notify us at the time of booking that you
would like adjacent accommodation or have
another special request, we will advise our
couriers on site. Whilst we always try to meet
your requests we cannot guarantee to do so.
Adjacent units are not available at many of
our sites.
- Water – most sites in Spain use desalinated
water which can still taste salty. Drinking water is
available from special drinking taps around the
site. Many customers prefer to buy bottled water,
which if purchased in 10 litre containers, is
inexpensive.
- Star Rating – we quote the official rating
where one exists against each campsite. In Italy
and France there is a star rating system – 4 stars
the highest rating. In Spain sites are classified as
luxury or 1st to 3rd category. Elsewhere there are
no official ratings so we indicate what we believe
would be the classification under the French
system. The French star rating system is limited. It
reflects the standard of toilets, lighting etc but it
does not reflect the number or quality of bars, restaurants, pools, etc.
- Campsite size – we classify campsite size thus:
Small – less than 250 pitches; Medium – up to
500 pitches; Large – up to 1000 pitches; Very
large – over 1000 pitches. We quote guidebook
size.
- Barbecues– on each resort page we state if
barbecues are provided. On sites where charcoal
barbecues are banned but gas ones are
permitted, we provide gas barbecues on free loan.
Site owners/local authorities sometimes impose
total barbecue bans at times of high fire risk.
- Entertainment – details on the resort page are
of the high season entertainment programme
operated last year. There may, therefore, be
variation for the 2009 season. See section
18 of the Terms and Conditions.
- Facilities and off peak holidays – those
taking a holiday outside the peak period benefit
from substantially lower prices. The weather can
be just as good, the beaches less crowded and
some sites, which are quite lively during July and
August, are perfect for a quiet holiday in May,
June or September. One of the reasons for the
attractive off peak pricing is that site owners may
not open all facilities. Swimming pools are
generally open from early in the season but this is
at the site owner’s discretion as bad weather or
other difficulties can make preparation and
maintenance of swimming pools impractical.
Organised activities and entertainments are often
concentrated into the July/August period.
- Hoopi’s Children’s Club – for safety reasons
we limit the number of children at children’s club
meetings to 12 children – and when demand is
high we operate a pre-booking system. (We ask
parents to drop off/pick up their children from
the Club meeting point.) The Club is open to
children from 4-11 years only. At peak times there
may be different sessions for 4-7 and 8-11 year
olds. Please note that our children’s club is not a child care facility and you must be available onsite while your children are at our clubs.
- Distances – are approximate and are quoted
from the nearest point on the site.
- Campsite charges – on site pools are free to
Canvas customers (unless stated otherwise) as
are many other activities. There is normally a
charge for tennis, mini golf, horse riding and cycle
hire.
- Pets –Dogs are permitted for a small charge per night on tent emplacements at selected campsites (see individual campsite pages). If you are planning on travelling with a pet, we recommend you visit the DEFRA website (www.defra.gov.uk) or call their helpline (0845 933 5577) for the latest information on travelling abroad with a pet. Please be aware that the campsite may charge an additional cost per night for dogs, which is payable on arrival direct to the campsite.
- Play Tents – you may not increase the
maximum party size by having adults/
children sleeping in the Play Tent.
- Two cars – Our contracts with sites permit the access of one car per emplacement booked. Should you wish to bring a second vehicle you may be asked to pay an extra charge per night or the campsite may refuse access to the site for the second vehicle for the duration of your stay. Any charges levied for a second vehicle must be settled directly with the campsite.
- Croatian Tourist Tax – Croatian Tax
Regulations require every departing tourist to pay
a tourist tax on the day of departure. In 2008, this
was charged at €1 per adult per day (€0.50 for 12-
18 year olds, under 12s free).
- Booking terms and conditions – Please note that prices and booking conditions may be superseded by subsequent additions.
