Arriving
What is the check-in time and check-out time on site?
You should plan to arrive on site between 4pm and 8pm, when your courier will be there to welcome you. Please vacate your accommodation by 10am on the morning of departure.
What happens if you arrive on site before your allocated check-in time?
If you arrive earlier, you are free to use all the campsite facilities until you get access to your accommodation at 4pm. Please ensure that you are on site by 10pm at the latest, as arrivals after this time will not be accepted. There is no vehicle access on site after campsite gates are locked.
Do you provide a welcome pack?
We don’t provide welcome packs. However, on every site there is a well stocked shop that provides all of your necessary essentials.
Can I take two cars on site?
Should you wish to bring a second vehicle you may be asked to pay an extra charge per night or the campsite may refuse access to the site for the second vehicle for the duration of your stay. Any charges levied for a second vehicle must be settled directly with the campsite.
Can I bring my dog on holiday?
Dogs are permitted for a small charge per night on tent emplacements at selected campsites (
see individual campsite pages). If you are planning on travelling with a pet, we recommend you visit the DEFRA website (
http://www.defra.gov.uk/) or call their helpline (0845 933 5577) for the latest information on travelling abroad with a pet. Please be aware that the campsite may charge an additional cost per night for dogs, which is payable on arrival direct to the campsite.
Accommodation
Will there be a barbecue?
You can find out if your chosen campsite has barbecues provided by checking the brochure or the Facilities section of the campsite’s web page.
View our list of campsites »Are the electrical sockets in the mobile homes British or European?
There can be a mix of European and British sockets in all of our accommodation so we recommend you take socket adapters to the campsite.
Does the Maxi Tent have electricity?
Yes. There is electricity to run the kitchen appliances and lighting plus an extra socket.
Find out more about our Maxi Tent »How big is my emplacement?
The size of emplacement varies from site to site. Typically sites near the beach and close to major towns/cities have smaller emplacements, while those inland have larger ones. Those in Italy and Spain are generally smaller – and you normally park your car during the high season on the road/in a parking area.
Can people sleep in the Play Tents?
You may not increase the maximum party size by having adults or children sleeping in the Play Tent.
Campsite facilities
Is there a silence rule on site?
Some sites have 'a silence after 10.30pm' rule. We ask all our customers to observe all site rules. The enforcement of the silence rules varies from site to site. In high season the noise on site is more noticeable as the sites are busier and there may be on-site entertainment late into the evening.
Are "swimming trunk only" regulations strictly adhered to?
Local government campsite rules usually require everyone to wear proper swimwear in campsite pools. Shorts of any description are banned. Some sites require the use of swimming caps.
Are the pools heated?
Some sites have heated pools. Please note these are usually solar heated, which raises the temperature just a few degrees.
Do I have to pay a deposit on site?
Some sites require you to leave a refundable deposit at the campsite reception for a barrier card and/or bands to access the swimming pool.
What safety information do I need to know?
We ask you to take all reasonable precautions to safeguard yourself/your party. In particular we ask you to familiarise yourself with the fire precautions, the cooking appliances and pool areas. Please note that campsite pools are not required to have lifeguards so a responsible adult should oversee children at all times whilst in/around the pool areas.
What entertainment is available on site?
Details on the
campsite pages are of the high season entertainment programme operated last year. There may, therefore, be changes for the 2010 season. See section 18 of the
Terms and Conditions. How do the campsite star ratings work?
We quote the official rating where one exists against each campsite. In Italy and France there is a star rating system – 4 stars the highest rating. In Spain sites are classified as luxury or 1st to 3rd category. Elsewhere there are no official ratings so we indicate what we believe would be the classification under the French system. The French star rating system is limited. It reflects the standard of toilets, lighting etc but it does not reflect the number or quality of bars, restaurants, pools, etc.
How do you classify campsite sizes?
We classify campsite size as follows:
Small – less than 250 pitches
Medium – up to 500 pitches
Large – up to 1000 pitches
Very large – over 1000 pitches
Are there any charges for campsite facilities?
On site pools are free to Canvas customers (unless stated otherwise) as are many other activities. There is normally a charge for tennis, mini golf, horse riding and cycle hire.
Can you pre-register for the children’s clubs?
It is not possible to register your child for the children’s club before departure.
For safety reasons we limit the number of children at children’s club meetings to 12 children - sessions run on a first come first served basis. When demand is high we operate a pre-booking system, usually consisting of a sign-up form at Canvas reception. Hoopi's Club is open to children from 4-11 years only. At peak times there may be different sessions for 4-7 and 8-11 year olds. Please note that our children’s club is not a child care facility and you must be available on site while your children are attending.
General Information
Water
Most sites in Spain use desalinated water which can still taste salty. Drinking water is available from special drinking taps around the site. Many customers prefer to buy bottled water, which if purchased in 10 litre containers, is inexpensive.
Off-peak holidays
You can benefit from substantially lower prices by taking a holiday outside the peak period. The weather can be just as good, the beaches less crowded and some sites, which are quite lively during July and August, are perfect for a quiet holiday in May, June or September. One of the reasons for the attractive off peak pricing is that site owners may not open all facilities. Swimming pools are generally open from early in the season but this is at the site owner’s discretion. Organised activities and entertainments are often concentrated into the July/August period.
Distances
Distances are approximate and are quoted from the nearest point on the site.
Croatian Tourist Tax
Croatian Tax Regulations require every departing tourist to pay a tourist tax on the day of departure. In 2008, this was charged at €1 per adult per day (€0.50 for 12- 18 year olds, under 12s free).
