Before you go
What should I take?
Visit our
What To Take page to find out what to bring on your Canvas holiday.
When will I receive my tickets?
Your Canvas travel pack is posted two to three weeks before departure, leaving you plenty of time to plan your route.
How can I plan my driving route to the campsite?
Go to the
campsite page of your chosen campsite and click on the Getting There tab. You can then enter your UK postcode to find the recommended driving route.
Can I change the name of a passenger?
Yes, we can change passenger names on your booking. There may be an amendment fee charged on some occasions. Please refer to our terms and conditions for further details.
I've changed my car registration since I booked my holiday. Do you need the revised details?
Yes, we need to pass on your updated details to the ferry company. This may incur an amendment fee. If the new vehicle is a bigger model than your previous one, some ferry companies may also charge a supplement.
My flight will be arriving late and I understand the couriers are only on duty until 10pm. Can my keys/emplacement details be left with the campsite reception?
Unfortunately we cannot arrange any arrivals on site after 10pm. We recommend that you choose flight times to ensure you can arrive on site before 10pm.
Can transfers from the airport be organised in advance?
We don’t organise transfers from the airport to the campsite. However there is a website
www.holidaytransfers.com which can provide you with details of suitable transfers.
What travel documents do I need?
Passports and visas – British and Irish citizens are required to have a full (10 year) passport to travel abroad. Application forms are available from the Passport Office, the post office or from the Garda (in Ireland). If you are 16 or over and applying for a passport for the first time, it is recommended that you should apply for one at least six weeks before your holiday. The UK Passport Service has to confirm your identity before issuing your first passport, and will ask you to attend an interview in order to do this. Non British and Irish citizens must check the passport and visa regulations for the countries they want to visit or pass through. Holders of non-EEC passports require a visa to visit France – this can take six weeks to obtain from the French Consulate.
Children’s passports – if your children are on your 10-year passport they can continue to travel on it until either: they are 16, the passport expires, or the passport is amended. If the children are not on your 10-year passport you must obtain a full passport for them – even for babies.
Driving licence – please remember to take your driving licence with you on holiday.
Health – A European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles you to reduced-cost medical treatment that becomes necessary while you’re in a European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland. Information on the EHIC is available at
www.dh.gov.uk or from your local Department of Health office. You can apply for an EHIC online at
www.dh.gov.uk or by phone on 0845 606 2030 or post from EHIC Applications, PO Box 1115, Newcastleupon-Tyne, NE99 1SW. Please note that this is not a substitute for travel insurance.
Up-to-date information – the Foreign and Commonwealth office produces up to date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. For further information please visit
www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo or phone 0870 606 0290. Alternatively you can contact ABTA’s Travel Information line on 0901 201 5050 (calls are charged at 50p per minute).
