A region of golden beaches backed by pine forests, where the shallow waters are ideal for swimming
and watersports. To the south, the Bordeaux area is the wine producing capital of France, while the
Basque country is a land of strong tradition and festivals.
Palmyre Zoo – is one of the best zoos in France,
with over 1600 animals wondering around in semi-freedom. See the trademark
pink flamingos and an amazing sea lion show.
Cognac – a small town where the world famous
brandy is made. Visit the Remy Martin distillery and take a tour around
the vineyards and cellars, where there are plenty of opportunities
to taste and buy.
La Rochelle – is a charming town with extremely
good seafood restaurants. The old port is particularly picturesque,
and the aquarium is sure to be popular with children of all ages for
its diversity of marine life.
Bordeaux – the capital of the region is city port on the Garonne
river, with 18th century architecture, wide boulevards and excellent
shopping. Best known as the wine producing capital of France, visit the
many vineyards and château nearby to taste and buy.
Biarritz – a stylish resort that is world famous for its surfing and chic
boutiques. Explore the old town and marine centre, before heading to
the Rocher de la Vièrge, the white statue of Mary on a rocky outcrop, for
a spectacular view of the sunset.
St Jean de Luz – is a seaside resort and fishing
port that is delightful to explore. An excellent location for watersports
that is well known for confetti fights and colourful festivals during
the summer months.
