A diverse coastline of uninterrupted stretches of beach and sheltered
coves, interspersed with traditional fishing villages, cosmopolitan
resorts, and tranquil hill-top villages. Visitors return here year
after year for the hours of warm sunshine and a relaxed pace of life.
St Tropez – once a busy fishing port that
is today one of the most stylish and flamboyant resorts on the Riviera.
Climb the hilltop citadel for wonderful views over the Gulf of St
Tropez. Take a boat trip from St Raphaël and explore the yachts
of the rich and famous.
Monaco – one of the best ways to see the main
sights in this tiny Principality is on the tourist train, which offers
wonderful views of the port and palace, as well as the casino district
of Monte Carlo and part of the Grand Prix racing track.
Cannes – known as a city of festival and entertainment.
Walk along the Boulevard de la Croissette, lined with gardens and
palm trees, and look out for the ‘hands of fame’, set
in concrete.
Gorges du Verdon – one of the natural wonders
of Europe, a superb canyon cutting through chalky mountains, offering
some dramatic scenery. Best seen from the viewing points, which include
Pont Sublime, not for those without a head for heights.
Grasse – a charming town situated in the hills
and world famous for itsperfume distilleries. Take a guided tour around
one of the houses.
Aquatica – for children, a trip to this waterpark
in Fréjus is an excellent way to cool off. There are slides
here of every description - try out the unique twister slide - and
the largest wave pool in Europe.
