Languedoc Roussillon is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations
in France, nestled between the golden beaches of the Western Mediterranean
and the Pyrénées. This is a vibrant region, with a diversity
of lively resorts on the coast, picturesque villages and flourishing
vineyards inland.
Canal du Midi – on the UNESCO world heritage
list, the Canal du Midi runs for 145 miles from Toulouse to the port
of Sète. Take a barge trip on the canal or cycle and walk alongside,
to make the most of the excellent scenery.
Béziers – this lively city is the wine
producing capital of Languedoc. Visit Cathédrale St-Nazaire,
built in a commanding hill top position and giving sunning views of
the surrounding area.
Perpignan – an attractive and vibrant city,
brimming with Catalonian charm. Spend a day wandering the narrow streets
full of shops, restaurants, cafés and wonderful architecture.
Aqualand Waterpark – set in six hectares of
green fields and surrounded by palm trees, the River Twist and Niagara
slides will provide a full day of fun for all the family in St Cyprien.
Réserve Africaine de Sigean – a large
safari park that is home to over 3800 animals roaming freely in a
natural habitat. Discover more with nature workshops and guided tours.
Cirque de Navacelles – one of the most remarkable
natural
sites in the region, taking the form of a vast crater. The village
of Navacelles lies at the bottom, some 330 metres below the surface.
