2. Bordeaux

Bordeaux, the capital of the region, is on the Garonne river, with 18th century architecture, wide boulevards and excellent shopping. Best known as the wine producing capital of France, visit the many vineyards and château nearby to taste and buy.

3. Cognac

Cognac is a small town where the world famous brandy is made. Visit the Remy Martin distillery and take a tour around the vineyards and cellars, where there are plenty of opportunities to taste and buy.

4. La Rochelle Aquarium

La Rochelle's large aquarium has over 10,000 species of sea creatures and over 3 million litres of seawater! It has a tropical greenhouse and a room specifically for learning more about sealife. It is right in the centre of La Rochelle which makes it perfectly placed for combining a visit to the aquarium with a visit to the lovely port itself.
