Camping holidays in Slovenia

Slovenia – Europe in miniature. It’s a stunning country, that’s a whirlwind of different scenery, from glorious beaches to snow-capped peaks. With more than half the country covered in dense woodland, this is also one of Europe’s greenest lands. Slovenia has a mild climate – ideal for exploring the architectural delights of the cities. You’ll discover Gothic churches, ancient castles and a vibrant café culture.

Things to do in Slovenia

Walking & cycling
Our resort in Slovenia offers a number of walking and cycling routes in the local area, which is an excellent way to explore. Head into the hills – the landscape is ideal for vineyards; the Bizeljsko and Pišece districts are renowned for their top quality wines.

Brežice
The closest town to the resort is dominated by the castle, which is now a museum housing several exhibitions and collections. The Brežice water tower is probably the most recognisable landmark – built in 1914 to supply water to the town, it today houses a pub!

Ljubljana
The Slovenian capital and largest city makes a great day trip. The historic centre remains largely intact, and offers some lovely Austrian influenced architecture. Ljubljana Castle overlooks the city centre – make short work of the steep hill using the tramway. The Tivoli Park stretches for five kilometres from the city centre, providing a green oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Postojna Caves
The Postojna Caves system is the longest in Slovenia and is one of the countries top tourist attractions. The caves have been open to visitors since 1819, and today offer a train system and well kept paths to allow visitors to explore with the help of a guide.

Zagreb Terme
Catež is located close to the Croatian border, and the capital city, Zagreb, is well placed for a day trip. This is a bustling and vibrant city, home to numerous museums and art galleries. Well worth a visit are the Archaeological Museum and the Croatian Natural History Museum.

Getting there

By Air
Take a low cost flight to Ljubljana (82mls) or Zagreb (28mls) and hire a car. There are regular services to both airports from the UK.

By ferry
Calais is 926 miles from Brežice. Why not combine a stay at Terme Catež with a holiday at one of our campsites in Germany, or spend a few nights at Berny Rivière and enjoy the delights of Disneyland® Paris?

Please note: When driving on toll roads in Slovenia it is compulsory to display a vignette (toll sticker) on your windscreen. Failure to do so may result in an on-the-spot fine.
