As with a holiday anywhere, you can’t always guarantee blue skies and sunshine so it’s always handy to be prepared with some rainy day activities. We’ve put together some of our favourite things to do when the weather doesn’t play ball. If you’ve got any suggestions, we’d love to hear them too!
Oceanopolis in Brest
To call Oceanopolis an aquarium wouldn’t be doing it justice. The place is huge and covers every corner of the planet! Explore the depths of the ocean from sharks to Europe’s largest penguin colony. If you need to warm up then take a step into the Caribbean with a walk through the Tropical Greenhouse. http://www.oceanopolis.co.uk/

How many fish can you see?
Indulge in Crepes
When the weather takes a turn for the worse it’s a good excuse to find somewhere nice to just sit back and relax. It’s even better if this relaxation time is accompanied by good food and drink. Brittany is renowned for its crepes so it would be rude not to make the most and indulge. There are two types of Crepe – sweet and savoury. Sweet crepes are made with white flour and are rather sweet, and savoury crepes are made with buckwheat flour which gives a lovely unique flavour. There are always lots of options for fillings from regular ones such as good old Nutella, through to chestnut paste and almonds. Surprisingly delicious! It’s worth noting that some creperies and restaurants close from around 2pm until opening again at 5pm for the evening.
Go exploring
Even in the rain Brittany still manages to look striking. As some people say, there is no such thing as bad weather – just the wrong clothing. So bundle up in waterproofs and wellies and head out to explore. The beaches that line the coastline of Brittany are filled with coves and inlets which are great for exploring. Check out the beaches between Carnac and La Trinité sur Mer for particularly good rockpools. Why not make a checklist of things to find on the beach?
Family fun on the campsite
Of course if you don’t fancy venturing off the campsite then take a look at the three campsites in Brittany – Domaine des Ormes, Camping la Grande Métairie and Camping les Deux Fontaines – that offer the FamilyExtra programme come rain or shine to keep the whole family entertained.
