Walk this way
A Canvas holiday is perfect for keen walkers – all the freedom of campsite life with some of Europe’s most stunning scenery right at your feet. From a challenging hike in the French Alps to a gentle stroll around the Italian Lakes, there’s something to suit everyone.
The German countryside is a haven for walkers, with over 250,000 well maintained paths. Camping Landal Warsberg has many easy walking routes departing directly from site. Try the circular route to the quaint village of Ayl and enjoy lovely views of the Saar Valley and local vineyards. Or wander into Saarburg and explore the thousand-year-old town centre with its ruins and beautiful waterfalls.
Domaine de Chalain is set in an area of breathtaking natural beauty with woodland, lakes and waterfalls. There is a huge choice of walking routes, both direct from the campsite and in the surrounding area. One of the most popular is at Les Cascades de Hérrison. This scenic hike has plenty of resting spots along the way so pack a picnic and take in the stunning countryside.
On your bike
Cyclists are spoilt for choice on a Canvas Holiday, whatever terrain you prefer. Our Lake Annecy site is ideal for mountain bikers or if you prefer more gentle adventures, our Wassenaar site in Holland is surrounded by fantastic flat cycle paths, excellent for exploring the local area. Camping les Deux Fontaines is a great choice for a family cycling holiday, with nearby cycling routes passing through many local harbour villages and offering fine views of the Brittany’s rugged coastline.
With easy access to the Loire à Velo cycle path network, this is a great base for exploring the Loire from the saddle. Discover some of the finest châteaux in France – and a selection of tasty wine and cheese when you’re done! Bike hire is available on site.
Golfers rejoice! Going on holiday doesn’t mean neglecting your game. Pop the clubs in the back of the car and try out some of Europe’s finest courses. There are sun-soaked courses close to our Languedoc and Costa Brava sites, and fine inland golfing in the Loire. Or these campsites have their very own courses on site…
Domaine des Ormes features an 18 hole, par 72 course set in wooded parkland in the grounds of a château (handicap certificate required). There’s water and trees to challenge even the most experienced golfer, as well as a driving range, club hire and golf lessons if your technique is a little rusty. Green fees range from €35-€59 for 18 holes, and €25-€35 for 9 holes.
Suitable for beginners and experts alike, Camping Pra’delle Torri has an impressive 18 hole, par 72 course, and also offers a driving range and club hire. If you want to sharpen up your technique, professional instructors are available for all levels. Green fees range from €35-€66 for 18 holes and €35-€40 for 9 holes.
What could be better than relaxing by a lake with a fishing rod by your side? We have campsites set in the grounds of former country manors – many with large, fish-filled ponds and lakes. It’s the perfect combination – a relaxing Canvas holiday with fishing right on your doorstep.
Even if you’re a fishing novice, Camping la Garangeoire is the perfect place to start. There are two fishing lakes on site heavily stocked with carp, pike, tench, roach and rudd. No permit is needed to fish in the lakes, and equipment is available to hire on site. There’s even a weekly fishing competition held at the larger of the two lakes.
Our most popular campsites has three lakes at its centre and is perfect for a fishing break. There’s plenty of space to go around, plus loads of onsite activities to keep the non-fishermen in your family entertained! License is required (available on site), plus equipment is also available to hire.
Make a splash
If you love the water, we’ve got campsites at some of Europe’s most beautiful lakes and coastlines with water sports galore available. From Lake Garda to the Costa Brava, there’s something to tempt everyone.
Sant’Angelo Village is a lively campsite with plenty going on to keep the whole family happy! There is direct access to the beach, where you can try your hand at a variety of water sports including sailing lessons.
The Istrian peninsula in Croatia is a fantastic location for a diving holiday, with shipwrecks dotted along the coast. The diving school is open all season with a range of lessons and guided dives to choose from. If you prefer to stay above the surface there’s also sailing, canoeing, pedaloes, paragliding and banana boats available.
