During May and June there are some brilliant events on such as the Spanish Grand Prix, the Cannes Film Festival and the French Open. Attending big events can be a pretty pricey affair so getting good accommodation at a great price means there’s a bit left over for the fun stuff.
Cannes Film Festival
If you’ve always fancied rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous of the film world then get yourself to Cannes between May 11 and 22! Every year for ten days the world’s film stars descend on the beautiful waterfront of Cannes to attend premieres and parties. The town of Cannes is a great place to visit anyway but having the extra allure of celeb-spotting while you sip a cappuccino at a chic pavement café adds that extra bit of excitement. Spanish Grand Prix
The fast and furious energy of the Grand Prix arrives in Montmeló, Spain from May 13 to May 15. Practice and qualifying takes place on the 13th and 14th, with the main race on the Sunday. The circuit is located 30 miles north east of Barcelona so it’s a fab chance to combine a love of motorsports with a city break in one the of most striking cities in Europe. The famous clay court tournament starts at Rolland Garros on Saturday 22 May and finishes with the Men’s final on 5 June.
