Travel Photographer Darren Brogan shares five of his best images from a recent stay in Abruzzo, Italy. Darren stayed at Stork Camping Village during his trip, using the site as a base to capture some of the region’s most beautiful views.
My wife and I love camping and Italy so were very excited to find out that Canvas Holidays had a new site in Abruzzo, a region we had yet to explore
After an early morning flight to Rome we picked up our hire car and started our journey through the mountains towards Stork Camping Village, leaving the motorway for a bit to follow the winding roads of the incredible Gran Sasso National Park.
Upon arriving at the campsite we checked in to our accommodation and quickly made our way to the onsite restaurant for our first pizza of the trip. In the morning we visited the onsite shop for freshly baked bread and breakfast supplies before setting off for a drive along the Adriatic coast towards the beautiful Punta Aderci, stopping off for an amazing seafood lunch at one of the many restaurants on the way.
The next day we drove to the nearby town of Atri for a wander around its paved streets before enjoying a relaxing afternoon at the campsite.
On our last day we woke up early and walked a few metres to the campsite’s sandy beach to watch the sun rise before heading north to our next destination in Umbria. What a great trip!
