The start of a new year, and perhaps, the start of a new chapter? Try something new in 2019, or get back to doing something you used to love doing. Here’s some inspiration to help you find a new endeavour to get your teeth into:
1. Embrace Nature
There’s nothing like the great outdoors. Fresh air. Beautiful scenery. It’s a playground for some absolutely fantastic activities, from adrenaline packed outings to relaxed, serene endeavours. Why not embrace a little (or a lot) of nature on an AMAC campsite this year?
2. Become a bookworm
Reach for Ruth Rendall instead of the remote control in the evenings and pour yourself into a rousing romance novel, nail-biting thriller or haunting who-dunnit. Reading can relieve stress, provide mental stimulation and improve your focus & concentration. Here’s a list of the Guardian’s best books of 2018 to get you started.
3. Learn a new language
Français? Deutsch? 日本語? Learning a new language is great for improving memory and increasing attention span. It opens up so many opportunities, like meeting new people or new career options. It’s great for holidays as well, and you’ll be able to order your latte in the local lingo!
4. Declutter your space
Why wait until Spring for a big clear out? Decluttering comes with a wealth of benefits including stress reduction, improved sleep, better concentration and a creativity & productivity boost. And in the long term, it’ll making cleaning and tidying a whole lot easier!
5. Learn to cook
Whether you’re already a culinary maestro or a beans on toast expert, you can always improve your cooking credentials. Master a new dish or entire cuisine and get set to impress family and friends with your collection of delicious dishes.
6. Get moving
A new year usually heralds the start of new gym membership or enrolment in a new club. While this is a really great way to get active again, for a more successful long term strategy, invest your time in an activity you love. Rediscover your favourite sporting endeavour from your younger years or dive right into something completely new. The choice is yours!
7. Go to bed on time
The benefits of a good night’s sleep include increased energy and focus, better moods and stress reduction. So it’s perhaps a good idea to start sticking to a night time routine that finds you all tucked up in bed at a decent time. With a good book of course. Some say, “you snooze, you lose” but we think a good old slumber will give you a dream start to tomorrow!
8. Plan a holiday
Nothing sets you up for the year ahead quite like the planning and preparation of your next summer holiday! Give those winter blues the cold shoulder and get stuck into researching a sunny getaway with the whole family. Need some inspiration? How about a stunning glamping trip or a luxury-laden holiday in stunning destination across Europe?
