2. Louis and Louise by Julie Cohen. This clever and moving novel is fascinating and gripping in equal measure. How would your life be different if you’d been born the opposite sex? Following the life of the same person, in both genders, this novel tries to find out how. It will shock, thrill and make you cry. |

4. The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter by Hazel Gaynor.I love historical fiction and there isn’t anyone better at bringing the past to life than Hazel. This book tells the story of a tragic accident at sea, incredible courage and its repercussions through the years. Romance, adventure and mystery. It’s all here! |

5. Somewhere Beyond the Sea by Miranda Dickinson. While you are waiting for Miranda’s brilliant new book The Day We Meet Again, make sure you catch up with this delightful tale. Romantic, and funny as well as deeply moving, it’s set in Cornwall and is a story of grief, courage and the healing power of love. |
And of course you could choose to immerse yourself in my new novel The Girl at the Window, a haunting love story that crosses the generations.
Ponden Hall is a centuries-old house on the Yorkshire moors, a magical place full of stories. It’s also where Trudy Heaton grew up. And where she ran away from…Now, after the devastating loss of her husband, she is returning home with her young son, Will, who refuses to believe his father is dead.
While Trudy tries to do her best for her son, she must also attempt to build bridges with her eccentric mother. And then there is the Hall itself: fallen into disrepair but generations of lives and loves still echo in its shadows, sometimes even reaching out to the present.
Whatever you read this summer, I wish you a wonderful and relaxing break with Canvas Holidays.
