1. Golf de Fontainebleau, Paris
Set within the gorgeous Fontainebleau forest, this golf course is famed for being not only the most scenic but also one of the oldest in France. Designed by English architect Tom Simpson in 1909, the 18-hole course meanders through tree-lined fairways and across impeccably cared for greens.

2. Golf de Seignosse, Biarritz
Combine a visit to the famed seaside resort of Biarritz with a trip to compact yet impressive Golf de Siegnosse. It’s one of the most prestigious golf courses in France, and it’s made up of manicured tree-lined fairways with plenty of hazards to give players a bit of a challenge.

3. Les Bordes Golf International, Loire Valley
Located in the verdant Loire Valley, this picturesque golf course merges English and American designs within a truly tranquil setting. As well as leafy fairways that trail through the ancient Les Bordes forest, you’ll also spot bunkers and a handful of water hazards.
Where to stay: Take the family to the amazing Camping La Grande Tortue and then slip off for a round of golf at Les Bordes just an hour to the north.
4. Golf de Chantilly, Paris
Another great French golf course near the capital is Golf de Chantilly. It was designed by the same architect as Fontainebleau and is home to a charmingly traditional clubhouse as well as a beautiful yet tough course that’s definitely best left to experienced golfers.

5. Golf de Belle Dune, Normandy
Head to the vast beaches of Northern France and indulge in a round at Golf de Belle Dune. The course sits right by the sea on Côte Picardie and is one of the top links courses in the country. A day at Belle Dune not only offers up fantastic golfing but also the chance to soak up some seriously stunning scenic views. Its proximity to ferry ports like Boulogne-Sur-Mer also makes it one of the easiest high-class French golf courses to reach from the UK.
