Are you looking forward to a week in the sun in France? If you can’t handle the hot weather for too long, why not cool off with a day at a fun-filled water park? From tropical-themed options to those with inflatable assault courses on the water, here are our top water parks in France to put on your itinerary.
1. Aquariaz, Avoriaz
Located in the heart of the Morzine ski area in the French Alps, Aquariaz is a tropical-themed wonderland that boasts the title of Europe’s highest altitude water park. The atmosphere is more chilled out than your average park thanks to peaceful spa pools and waterfalls surrounded by lush greenery. Nevertheless, daredevils can still have a go on the exhilarating Slidewinder ride!
2. Aqualand, Frejus
If the Côte d’Azur is beckoning you, keep the kids entertained with a day at Aqualand in Frejus. The water park makes the most of the Mediterranean climate with plenty of beaches for lounging. If you’re a bit of a thrill-seeker, why not speed down one of the kamikaze or racing slides?
3. AquaPark Parc, Bergerac, Dordogne
Also known as Junior Land Park, this water park in France’s Dordogne region is great for kids (and adults!) of all ages thanks to its huge range of activities. Splash around in Aqualand Bergerac’s swimming pools, whizz down water slides or have a go at volleyball. You could also treat yourself to a massage or sauna session in the park’s relaxation area.
Where to stay: You’ll find numerous campsites just west of Bergerac, including idyllic Camping Soleil Plage in Sarlat.
4. Wave Island, Monteux
This was France’s first major water park and it’s still going strong today with its mix of thrilling slides, relaxing lazy river and artificial beaches. Surfers will also rejoice as it’s got a huge wave simulator that’s ideal for testing out your skills on a board. You’ll find Wave Island in the Provence region in the sunny south of France, just 17km from Avignon.
Where to stay: Check into Camping Les Avignon that’s less than 30 minutes by car from Wave Island.
5. AquaPark, Biscarrosse
Found in the beautiful south-west Landes region, AquaPark Biscarrosse is widely considered one of the best water parks in France. That’s because of its location right on Lake Biscarrosse and its fun giant inflatables (there’s even a catapult!). Typically, kids have to be over ten years old, but there are certain days when they allow younger children in for supervised play.
