Camping Duinrell: The verdict!

Our Kids Ambassadors, Oliver & Ella took a holiday to Camping Duinrell in Holland. Here’s what they thought (in their own words).

We have recently returned from a fab week at Camping Duinrell in Wassenaar, Holland and it was just a non-stop week of funfair and water park family fun.

We took the ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland which although a 7 hour journey went quickly as there is lots do on board including a cinema, play area and restaurants.

The drive down to Duinrell took around 45 mins and Mum and Dad found the drive very easy. On arrival we were shown to our two bedroom Comfort Plus caravan which was to be our home for the week. Although it was quite small it had everything we needed and was very close to the amusement park and water park which we thought was perfect. With the sunny weather we were able to make the most of the decking area and sun loungers, and of course the barbecue.

Car journeys with children

There are definite advantages to packing everything you need in your car. To start with, you don’t have to worry about airline luggage allowances or how much liquid you have in your hand luggage.

But does the thought of being stuck in the car with the kids for hours – and endless cries of “Are we nearly there yet?” – fill you with dread? Fear not. We’ve put together some tips on easing the stress of long car journeys.

Anyone for tennis?

Wimbledon fortnight kicks off today. And that means I’ll be glued to the games, pondering whether it’s time to dust off my dusty racket.

While I don’t get much time to play these days, I do enjoy a game while I’m on holiday. And OK, campsite tennis courts aren’t exactly the centre court at Wimbledon – but there are advantages. You don’t have to wear white (although it is good for showing off a tan) and the nation won’t collectively hold their breath if you miss a key shot. Mind you, there’s no hawk-eye to resolve in/out arguments either…

Here’s my top 3 sites for a game of tennis. Pass the Pimms…

Why we love camping

We ❤️ camping!

Well of course we’d say that. But it’s true, we do. And we want you to love camping too.

If you’ve never tried this type of holiday before, you might be turning your nose up about the effort involved with a camping holiday. Pitching a tent in the rain? No thanks. Soggy socks? Eugh! Cold nights sleeping on the floor? It’s meant to be a holiday…

Well think again!

Because a Canvas holiday couldn’t be more different.

We give you the freedom of camping without the feeling of having to rough it.

Picture yourself relaxing in luxury accommodation, surrounded by beautiful countryside, enjoying a glass of local wine while the barbecue sizzles and the children play nearby.

Weekend escapes

Sometimes you need time out. The chance to leave everyday stresses behind. A short break is a great way to visit new destinations and experience different things without breaking the bank. Just a few days away can make the world of difference.

Imagine getting back to work with stories of sipping a cocktail while the Mediterranean waves lap nearby, or strolling down the Champs-Elysees, stopping for a French pastry along the way. Sure beats spending the weekend cleaning the house!

Camping might not be the obvious choice for a short break holiday. But with easy access to airports and ferry ports, lots to do and plenty of places to explore; it’s time to think again.

A fresh look at France

To paraphrase Dr Johnson, if you’re tired of France, you’re tired of holidays. It’s the destination that never ceases to intrigue, delight and inspire.

Experiencing the real France means exploring villages unchanged by centuries, witnessing local festivals, eating local dishes, and above all meeting the real people for whom those magical landscapes are the background to everyday life.
