Read blog posts from our Canvas Holidays ambassadors. Our brand ambassadors share what they love best about our outdoor camping holidays in Europe.
#1 The whistling kettle It is the sound that signals fresh coffee is on its way. The high-pitched squeal comes dangerously close to being unbearably annoying, but somehow manages to pull off being endearing. #2 Fresh baguettes and croissants Is there any better way to start the day than sitting outside and tucking into warm,…

Oliver & Ella, our Kids Ambassadors, went on holiday to Camping Marina di Venezia this summer. We just love this review of their holiday. Sounds like they had great fun! We have just arrived back from our BEST HOLIDAY EVER! And we really, really did not want to come home! We stayed at Camping Marina di…

I ran my hands through my wet hair and leaned back on the rocky ledge to let the sun dry the droplets on my skin. Gentle waves lapped the tiny, cliff-lined cove on the eastern shores of Lake Annecy where we’d stashed our kayak before jumping into the enticing water. This was the moment. I…

I peered over the edge and gathered my composure. Six metres below a mini waterfall crashed into a bubbling, gurgling pool. “Are you ready to jump?”, said my canyoning instructor – the kind of ruggedly handsome, all-action adventurer that makes you feel less of a man. I could feel my legs wobble slightly. This was…

Butterflies filled my stomach and my body tingled with nerves.
Erm, was it wise to put my life in the hands of a scruffy-haired, stubble-faced dude in flash sunglasses?

I spent a week exploring Lake Garda, sampling the best it has to offer in outdoor activities.
And my trip with Canvas Holidays didn’t disappoint.
Here are my top five adventures you cannot miss.
- Climbing Monte Baldo
This imposing ridge of mountains on the eastern shoreline provides the most dramatic of backdrops to the glistening blue of Lake Garda. Craggy peaks topping 2,000-metres rise above lushly forested slopes, creating a wild and rugged landscape that feels a million miles from the crowded tourist hotspots. Take a ferry to Malcesine, ride the cable car to 1,760 metres and get exploring. Short walks with stunning views satisfy most – but for a real adventure wear your hiking boots and trek to the 2,218-metre summit of Cima Valdritta.

Our Kids Ambassadors, Oliver & Ella took a holiday to Camping Duinrell in Holland. Here’s what they thought (in their own words).
We have recently returned from a fab week at Camping Duinrell in Wassenaar, Holland and it was just a non-stop week of funfair and water park family fun.
We took the ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland which although a 7 hour journey went quickly as there is lots do on board including a cinema, play area and restaurants.
The drive down to Duinrell took around 45 mins and Mum and Dad found the drive very easy. On arrival we were shown to our two bedroom Comfort Plus caravan which was to be our home for the week. Although it was quite small it had everything we needed and was very close to the amusement park and water park which we thought was perfect. With the sunny weather we were able to make the most of the decking area and sun loungers, and of course the barbecue.

I love the excitement and adrenaline rush you get from adventure sports.
But, perhaps more, it is the solitude and quiet that attracts me to spend time in the great outdoors.
A walk to a tiny 17th century church and hermit’s dwelling therefore provided a perfect contrast to the high-octane activities I’d be enjoying in Lake Garda.

“Is this fun?”, asked my brother Adam, as we cycled around another winding bend high into the mountains above Lake Garda.
The gruelling ascent had left us sweaty, fatigued and saddle sore – and unsure of our sanity in voluntarily signing up for this painful outdoor adventure.
But we were not alone in our two-wheeled mission to explore the wilder side of Italy’s biggest lake.
The northern section of Lake Garda is somewhat of a Mecca for mountain bikers.
With hundreds of miles of world class trails heading into the craggy peaks that surround the water, the local tourist board claims it is the “best bike resort in Europe”.

YOU can still have awesome outdoor adventures in the rain.
Being adventurous is simply a mindset – a determination to overcome obstacles and squeeze every last drop of fun out of any situation.
And that is the approach my brother Adam and I have taken to the first three days of our trip to Lake Garda with Canvas Holidays.
The weather has been, well, dramatic – thunder has roared, fork lightning has flashed and torrential downpours have soaked everything in sight. But the adventure show has continued. While other gloomy holidaymakers have wrapped themselves in blankets, looking up from their sun beds accusingly at the grey skies, we’ve been out exploring the best Lake Garda has to offer. Mountain trekking, lakeside walks, refreshing swims and paddle boarding have been on the adventure menu – and every tasty course has satisfied our hunger for outdoorsy excitement.
