When you travel outside the school holidays, you’ll find everythings that little bit quieter – perfect for enjoying a holiday made for two. So, if you’re looking for holidays for couples, whether that’s a romantic getaway, a weekend city break, or a longer beach getaway, here are a few of our personal recommendations:
Sea and sunshine your thing? See yourself strolling along the beach or soaking up some rays on the sand? Or, do you both like to party all night and recover on the beach all day, then check out our favorite sunshine destinations:
Benidorm – if you both like partying the night away, sipping on cocktails and strutting your stuff on the dance floor, then check out the bright lights of Benidorm. Packed with bars, restaurants and nightclubs aplenty, Benidorm (https://www.canvasholidays.co.uk/camping-in-benidorm) is our hot pic for party couples.
South West France – for couples looking for a more relaxed pace but still want golden sandy beaches, we’ve lots of campsites options along the sunny coast of the South West France area. If you are looking for cheap couples holidays ideas, our range of campsites cater to all budgets.
Croatia – with a minimum of 12 hours sunshine a day, and lots of islands to explore, Croatia is an excellent couples beach holiday option. Bring good shoes for the beaches here though as its less sand and more small rocks, beautiful, but not as soft!
Holidays for couples looking for a bit more culture can be found almost anywhere in Europe. We’re so lucky that most destinations across Europe are only a few hours flight away! So, make the most of it and start exploring the history of some of Europe’s oldest cities:
Rome - can you think of a more famous city for its ancient relics than Rome? Not only does it have historic landmarks like the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum or the Pantheon, it also has some of the best gelato around!
Barcelona - one of Europe’s most colorful cities thanks to Gaudi’s architecture. Stand hand in hand while you stare up at the intricate ceilings and design of the Sagrada Família or wonder around the mosaic gardens of his beautiful garden, Park Güell. You’ll both be amazed at his imagination and creations.
Styria - known for its wine, spas and castles, Styria in southern Austria is a great cultural holiday destination for couples. Spend the day together learning about the local history and wondering around the castles, then indulge in a spa followed by an evening sipping a glass of wine. Sounds perfect to us!
Holidays for young couples and older couples alike should always involve a little romance. If you are planning to whisk your significant other away on a surprise getaway, or simply planning an overdue escape together, Europe has some of the most romantic city destinations on offer:
Paris - when we think of Paris, it’s not only because it oozes romance, but also because it has some of the tastiest food and wine in Europe (https://www.canvasholidays.co.uk/blog/2015/04/03/the-food-lovers-guide-to-paris/). Grab your partner and take a sunset cruise along the Sein for a more relaxing pace. Don’t forget to pack your camera for a visit to The Wall of Love (Le Mur Des Je t’aime). Get out and about with a trip into the countryside to a vineyard and sample some of the region’s wines.
Venice - what’s more romantic than being serenaded on a gondola while gazing up at Renaissance building along one of Venice's wonderful waterways? After that, take in a romantic ballet or opera performance at the Theatre La Fenice and you’ll be left feeling the power of love.
